The monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) was built in the seventeenth century by two brothers of the Venetian Zangaroli family--monks who had converted to the Orthodox faith.
Here's an Greek Orthodox priest collecting the entrance fees
The grounds have such an uniquely old ambience...
The Patriarchal and Crusading Monastery Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) of Jagarolon is one the most significant monastic complexes from the end of the Venetian Occupation of Crete, with a rich offering to the history and education of Crete.
Inside the Chapel, in traditional Greek style, is ornate with religious decorations, hanging incense, burning candles, gilded icons, and religious paintings. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the church....
Harry found a nice spot for lounging in the sun.
The monastery was an important theological school in the nineteenth century.
I love this shot... it reminds me of a Where's Waldo?... except Harry is wearing an Orange and white shirt instead of the typical Waldoian red and white striped garment.
