Traveling the streets of Cairo

Greetings,

We spent the day venturing through the streets of Cairo...

We rented a driver for the day to cruise around... here's our car.

Unfortunately, we did not have the pre-requisite of the car having air-conditioning.

And here's our driver with Harry... this picture is before Harry gave him his tip. Harry is a bad tipper and I do not think the driver was as jovial afterwards...

Seriously... I love this sign. I tried to find one of these to bring home for Kayne's wall!

Curb side parking....

And here is our horse and carriage ride that took us around the pyramids...

Traveling by horse drawn carriage down busy highways is a little frightening... scratch that...VERY terrifying...

Harry needed an ATM to pull out some Egyptian pounds to pay the guy. Next thing I know... we are traveling down the major highway towards a bank.

Here are just a few pictures of the path from the bank towards the Pyramids....

I might have seen maybe 4 women in the entire country that were not fully covered... well, except the tourist. Egyptian women are conservative...

Egyptians still use donkeys and carts to transport goods. You see them all over the place... even on the busy highways.

Along with sheep and goats....

As we rounded a corner, the first view of these massive structures came into sight.

And no Hansen outing is complete without stopping at a McDonalds for lunch. I have no clue what our obsession with foreign American fast food restaurants?

What a wonderful trip this has turned out to be.... Cairo is a must see especially for my Cretan peoples... we are just due north of Africa. Crete is closer to Africa than Athens.

Blessings to those willing to travel,

Kristie
