Day of Records

Greetings,

Today is a day of records...

Starting with the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, which was opened in 1999, is unofficially billed as a 7-star hotel and is the world's most luxurious and tallest hotel.

Designed to resemble a billowing sail, the hotel soars to a height of over 1, 000 ft., dominating the Dubai coastline. The hotel's own website describes it as the best in the world. With your chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, discreet in-suite check in, private reception desk on every floor and a brigade of highly trained butlers who provide around-the-clock attention, this hotel promises the finest the world has to offer.

And here is a view of the helicopter pad on the top.

Unfortunately, the suites cost on average a few thousand dollars a night. So that is why we are posing outside the hotel and not inside!

We then went to the The Dubai Mall to eat and see the world's tallest building, which is just behind it.

Every mall here has some sort of attraction ... indoor skating rink, aquarium, 5 story water falls, theme parks, ski park... it is unreal what this city offers.

The United Arab Emirates has just stolen the crown from Taiwan in the tallest building.

The Burj Dubai, still under construction, reached 141 stories. The structure stands an impressive 2,684 ft tall. Unfortunately, the building opens December 2, 2009. We are just a little too early (which is never the case where I am concerned).

So today we saw the world's tallest building and the world's only 7 star hotel... from a distance!
Guinness world book Blessings,
Kristie
