Church hunting...

Greetings,

Well, this Sunday we were up early, dressed to impress (which means Harry had on a suit), and eager to go to church.

Earlier this week we deiced to find a "home" church, one within our denomination.  Harry scoured the internet to find a mini Mount Paran in Norfolk.  He found one with amazing likeness and potential to be a winner.

He printed directions for Azalea Gardens Church of God along with several other potential prospects.

Back to Sunday morning...

We almost forgot the directions, but before pulling out of the driveway Harry remembered and made a quick dash inside to grab them.

Off we go... everything is working in our favor.

We navigate ourselves through numerous streets (without arguing), we did not get lost, we even arrived on time.

As Harry goes to turn into the parking lot.... we realize, that our direction may not have been for the church we had originally been looking for..

This Azalea Garden Church of God sign was written in Spanish.  (?)

This Azalea Garden Church of God was for African American's... not that I have any problem going to church there... our church in Atlanta was interracial... we prefer a multi-racial / cultural church experience.... and we have attended black churches MANY many times... and I love their spunky music... this was not where we thought we were going.

So we decided to drive up and down Azalea Gardens to see if we could find the right one.

No luck.

I called 411 to see if they could give me the telephone number so I could call and get directions.

I call.

The church operator greets me with a, "Good morning this Azalea Garden Baptist Church".

"Baptist?" I ask.

"Um, yes mam, Baptist", she replies.

"Wrong number"... I explain to her.

No luck again.

At this point we spot a patrol police car on the side of the street.  After we both fastened our seatbelts, Harry pulled aside so I could ask him directions...

He had no idea where this mystery church was located.  He decides to call his friend (20 + year cop) to ask him.

No luck.

At this point he explains to us how there are abut 20 - 30 churches with the name Azalea Gardens (it's the location) and not all of them are located on Azalea Garden street.

Well that's just crazy...

Great Thanks!

At this point... Harry justs wants to go to the Golden Coral Sunday buffet.  At this point... church is almost over.

At this point... we are convinced this church shopping is getting ridiculous.

I mean... all we want to do is go to church.  It should not be this hard.

Later at home... Harry Googled and found the correct directions and Azalea Gardens Church of God is not only NOT on Azalea Gardens... it's not even in Norfolk... it's in Virginia Beach.

Go figure!

Blessings,
