Movie marathon

Greetings,

I must be a little bored...

I am just sitting around watching movies.

1.  Dear John

Sorry folks... I did not like it.  Zero chemistry between the two.  Just bad acting.

2.  Bounty Hunter

Funny.

3.  Back up Plan

Funny.

4.  The Young Victoria
I love historical movies... so liked it.

5.  The Children Of Huang Shi
LOVED it.  True story... and a must see. (seen it before, but wanted to watch it again)

6.  Leap Year
Really cute movie

7.  First 5 episodes of Glee.
For some crazy reason... I am addicted!

It felt nice to take a break.

Earth Day

Greetings,

Earth Day was last week... April 22, and I had a catchy little blog to post, but then I received a package in the mail.  And my mood changed.

The package was from the previous owners... there is a long story there so I will try to be brief:

The previous owners... the ladies with a child .. split up and parted ways.  We bought their home.  Unbeknownst to us... one lady stayed here in Norfolk... just a few houses down.... on the same street.

I know this because::::

The day we signed (less than 48 hours in the US) we stopped by the house, looked around and went back to the hotel for some sleep.

Later that night... we get a call from the realtor that the previous owner had topped by to give us the extra keys.

While she was there she noticed we had packaged delivered and were sitting outside on the porch.  So she put them inside the house.  She placed them INSIDE  O U R (the Hansen's) locked house.   No big deal.. maybe she was just being nice...?

What ever?

The next morning, while we were at the house she stops by to give us the extra keys.  We have a pleasant conversation about the neighborhood.  She tells us where she lives... which is just down the street.

Later that week, she stops by again.... to ask if she can have a planter from the backyard.

Whatever, I am going to toss it out anyway.

A few days later... she stops by again to see if she can have the rain catcher.

Okay, I feel a little weird because by now... we are ripping OUR / her previous house to bits.  I feel a little weird destroying all her "hard" yet unprofessional work.

Within the next few days... we are painting the office and through the window we see the previous owner sitting on our neighbor's porch staring inside the house.

WEIRD!

(The next day we bought blinds.)

So fast forward a bit... anytime we meet our neighbors (the previous owners neighbors and good friend) they tell us how cute and loving our house is.  Hah, obviuosly they have not seen it lately!

I have ripped it to shreds!

So every time a contractor comes over or I chainsaw down the laddis or rip out ceilings and leave the bags out front for trash day... I feel a little like I am being judged for destroying the previous owners house.

Fast forward to Earth Day.

Last week... Since the weather has been nice... I have been "pruning" the yard.  There is junk every where.  Plants and bushes and trees.... way too busy for my taste.

My taste is a nice manicured lawn (that someone else tends to) but clean and neat.

This tree is leaning on the neighbor's fence... I do not want to purchase a new fence when my leaning tree finally keels over.

Not a jungle of greenery that will never stay alive or look nice.

So I wacked it down.  I pruned that mess til about half its previous size.

They had rocked and stone paths that led to no where... just a disorganized mess (at least in my mind)...

That's the way I wanted it... GONE.

So on earth Day....

this package arrives... (not form the previous owner down the street, but from the other lady who moved away...

Over 50 plant and flower placards....

and  a "nice" little note saying:

Seriously?

It could have been a nice gesture, but it comes the week after I mow down their lawn.

Maybe if... all the other stuff had not happened I might not have been as perturbed, but enough already.  You sold the house.

My first thought was to mail her back the placards with all the dead plants I had dug up... but that would be just plain mean.  And I have to remember I am a Chaplains wife.

Am I in the wrong here?  Should I be grateful for the care and concern from the previous owner?

Almost certain

Greetings,

I am 100% sure that I do not like this....

A saggy celotex tile ceiling...

I am 90% that at some point it might eventually cave in...

I am 85% certain if I take this down I can see what's underneath...

....

I am 80% sure that this might just come down easy...

I am 75% sure once this is down... the ceiling will be ready for recessed lighting...

I am 70ish % sure Harry would not want to be here for this...

I am 50% sure that the ceiling might have been wallpapered at one time or another.

I am 25%  sure that I have found the attic floor....

I am 10% sure that this is not a live wire....?

And I am almost certain...

I promised Harry I would play with the electric while he is away.

So I will stop ripping our the ceiling for now.

Harry is going to be so happy!  (I wonder if it is better for Harry to see this mess in pictures or would he rather see it in person ... I think he will get both)

Looking up blessings,

New Kitchen

Greetings,

Hello old kitchen (or should I say good-bye)....

Meet the New Kitchen...

Well, the new kitchen minus one cabinet... the installer is having problems locating a missing cabinet.

Now, I must finish ripping out the last few pieces of the old kitchen.  I wanted to wait until the last possible minute before I take out the sink.

Blessings,

Manic Monday

Greetings,

1.  My speeding ticket is PAID.  $151.00 buck-a-roos that I could have spent on the house... maybe Virginia will repair some of their pot holes now.

2.  We have made it almost a week now without the patriarch of the household, but Oliver is filling in nicely.

3.  Just finished finals week in constitutional law.... now it's midterm in my last two classes.

4.  DID you READ #3!  My LAST 2 classes!

5.  Harry has been accepted into a MBA program.  Business school.... yuck.  He is almost finished with his Master's from the Navy War College.... I guess he thought he might have a little time on his hands?

6.  Bought new appliances for kitchen this past week.  Excited. When is the next payday?

7.  Almost finished ripping out the old kitchen.

8.  Still unpacking boxes.  Who knew we had so many clothes... because Harry wears the same weeks worth over and over again.

9.  Itching to go some where... have been in the house / Virginia too long.

10.  I wonder if Harry would want to take a cruise when he gets back from sea...?  I would!  I found a really good deal online.  (vacations to go.com)

Not too manic this week!  Just the way I like it!

Going to church Alone

Greetings,

I tried, but failed miserably.  I had every intention of going to church by myself.  In the end... I did chicken'd out.
So I did the next best thing...

went to church online.  My home church in Atlanta.

Even though I watched comfortably in pajamas and without make-up... I thoroughly enjoyed the service.

If you would like to visit online my church... you can find it here.

I miss Atlanta!

Spoon full of Sugar

Greetings,

Where is Mary Poppins when you need her?

In ev'ry job that must be done

There is an element of fun

You find the fun and snap!

The job's a game

And ev'ry task you undertake

Becomes a piece of cake

A lark! A spree! It's very clear to see that

A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

The medicine go down-wown

The medicine go down

Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

In a most delightful way

Mary Poppins, I need you to drop by and snap my things into place.  The house is a little overwhelming today.

Please!

In a most delightful way,

Separation anxiety

Greetings,

While Miss Peabody might be having a hard time....

Oliver does not seem to mind the separation....

He has even stolen Miss P's new dog bed.  He is a creature that loves his comfort.

We are having a rough time breaking their eating habits.  Harry typically wakes up around 4:15 a.m..

Needless to say, I am not going to get out of bed as such an egregious time.  Everyday they seem to sleep a little longer than the day before.  Miss Peabody's bladder seems to be holding up just fine.  No accidents yet.

Although, we seem to be napping quite a lot, we do miss Harry.

Blessings,

1st Letter to Harry

Dear Harry,

Just wanted to catch you up on a few things...

We miss you.  In the afternoons Peabody sits next to the front door waiting for you to come home. (I tried to tell her you usually come in the side door... silly dog)

My tri-care healthcare is still in the wrong region; hopefully, I do not get sick anytime soon.

Cabinet man came by to check on the delivery and set an installation date  (we are missing a cabinet)

Appliances are not in stock and are on back order.

Granite guy needs to reschedule if appliances are not here in time.

And ummm, I'm kinda ripping out the closet wall....

and I am not sure if it will be back by the time you come home.

Just letting you know.

On a brighter note... there were amazing hardwood floors under all that dirty carpet.

**and I promise not to rip out remove the bathroom tile** (yet)

Love you,
